Dr. Craig Adams / Poulsbo Animal Clinic

Dr. Craig Adams is Medical Director and Owner of Poulsbo Animal Clinic in Poulsbo, Washington.  He has owned Poulsbo Animal Clinic with his wife Bethany, also a veterinarian, since 2009.  Although the practice has been in Poulsbo since 1952, before they purchased it, it was stagnant with approximately $500,000 in annual revenue and negative profit. Under new management, Poulsbo Animal Clinic was modernized and became accredited with the American Animal Hospital Association, a distinction only 15% of veterinary clinics attain.  In the next two years, and six of the last 8 years, the business experienced double-digit growth and the practice has nearly tripled under their leadership.  The first quarter of 2017 had 31% growth.  Dr. Craig Adams graduated from Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Prior to veterinary school, he received a Master of Science degree from the University of Washington, School of Fisheries, where he studied salmonid ecology.  He was involved in the population studies of fish in the Elwha River, Olympic National Park, upstream of the dams that were ultimately removed to restore the habitat. He then went on to live in Fairbanks, Alaska where he studied muskox and caribou at the Institute of Arctic Biology, and published a peer-reviewed scientific article on caribou rutting behavior. While in Alaska, he met several wildlife veterinarians who encouraged him to pursue a doctorate in veterinary medicine. During veterinary school, he discovered a deep interest in companion animal medicine and surgery. He enjoys all aspects of general practice but has a special interest in surgery, both soft tissue and orthopedic, and dentistry.  He is the only veterinarian on the Kitsap Peninsula with training in minimally-invasive bone plating and stem-cell therapy.  While not a large part of his current practice, he previously provided veterinary services to aquatic animals, mostly koi, in his spare time.  This led to some very interesting experiences, including fish surgeries, and publishing several magazine articles. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Veterinary Orthopedic Society, and the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association.   He is an active member of his church, the Poulsbo Rotary Club, he enjoys most outdoor activities and playing with his 4 kids.  And just to do something completely different, he is learning how to play the banjo.  He no longer has any spare time!
